Houet: A citizen panel strengthens community engagement during the 72 Hours of Peni. The municipality of P©ni organized a citizen panel on Friday, July 31, 2026, as part of its 72-Hour activities. The panel focused on three sub-themes: civic responsibility, the duty of citizenship, and girls' education. The discussions brought together administrative authorities, educational stakeholders, and local residents.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General of Houet Province, Comrade Somb©niwendNikiema, opened the proceedings by emphasizing that these meetings provide a valuable forum for dialogue and strengthening social cohesion. He invited young people and women to fully participate in the development of their community.
The first presentation, given by Omar Traor©, an advisor to the President of Burkina Faso, focused on civic responsibility and the popular progressive revolution. Reviewing the history of the Popular Progressive Revolution, he urged the population to become more involved in local development. "The municipality must become a model of progress, driven by civic awareness and popular mobilization," he declared.
The prefect, president of the special delegation of Satiri, Comrade Emmanuel Ou©draogo, then elaborated on the theme of civic duty and collective responsibility. He stated, "local development cannot be achieved without strong civic engagement, based on solidarity and shared responsibility."
The third sub-theme, dedicated to girls' education, was presented by Sylvie Sagnon, head of the P©ni Women Teachers' Association. Addressing social constraints, early marriages, and a lack of awareness, she emphasized that "girls have the same rights as boys" and called on communities to support their continued schooling. Following the discussions, participants praised the quality of the presentations and expressed their hope that the recommendations would be translated into concrete actions.
