Citizen Vigilance Inspires Patriotism Among Hounde Students

Tuy: Citizen vigilance raises awareness of patriotism among students at the Hounde provincial high school as part of a campaign organized by the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC) of Tuy. A ceremony was held on January 20, 2026, to raise the national colors at the Tuy provincial high school.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event aimed to strengthen students' commitment to patriotism and citizenship values. It was attended by notable figures, including Omar Traore, the representative to the President of Burkina Faso for the Guiriko region; Souleymane Dianda, president of the Hounde municipal special delegation; and Seydou Traore, the provincial director of Secondary, Vocational, and Technical Education for the Tuy region.

The Defense and Security Forces, school community members, civic watch group members, and several prominent figures participated in the ceremony, highlighting their commitment to the nation.

In his address, Omar Traore urged students to embrace indigenous and patriotic values such as punctuality, diligence, hard work, honesty, and respect for authority and state symbols. He highlighted the importance of education in nation-building, a priority set by President Captain Ibrahim Traore since the Popular Progressive Revolution.

Souleymane Dianda praised the initiative, noting its role in rekindling patriotism among the youth. Seydou Traore encouraged students to adopt civic behavior, emphasizing respect for teachers, parents, and peers.

The ceremony concluded with students expressing their commitment through the patriotic and civic slogan: "For order and discipline: I commit," underscoring their dedication to civic duty and patriotism.
