Ouagadougou: The Naab-ziniguin Youth Club (CJN) clinched the title at the 2nd edition of the Dream’s Multi Service maracana tournament, which concluded on Sunday, August 23. CJN emerged victorious against Zongo Hamado Athletic (ZH9) with a final score of 2-1 on the unity field.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament was organized under the theme of promoting social cohesion and peace through sport. CJN, wearing red jerseys, took an early lead in the first half, heading into the break with a one-goal advantage. ZH9 Athletic, dressed in green, returned with renewed vigor in the second half, managing to equalize. However, CJN’s determination led to a decisive second goal, securing their triumph in the match.
At the conclusion of the tournament, accolades were distributed to the participating teams and standout players. CJN was awarded the championship trophy, a set of jerseys, two balls, medals, and a financial prize of 200,000 CFA francs. ZH9 Athletic, as the runners-up, received jerseys, a ball, medals, and 150,000 CFA francs. The third and fourth-placed teams were also rewarded with balls and cash prizes of 75,000 CFA francs and 50,000 CFA francs, respectively.
Several individual prizes were awarded, acknowledging exceptional performances. Amado Yogo was named the best goalkeeper and received a medal along with 10,000 CFA francs. Flix Nebi secured the top scorer title, earning similar rewards, while Amado Sawadogo was recognized as the best supporter, receiving 5,000 CFA francs.
The closing ceremony was graced by notable personalities including the representative of the event’s godmother, Nadine Tiemounou/Badiel, the godfather Kassoum Kabor, and co-godfather Mahama Nebi. They, along with traditional and administrative authorities and tournament promoter Abdoul Kader Simpor, lauded the community’s participation and the exemplary fair play exhibited throughout the event. They emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity and peace.
The day, interspersed with musical performances, concluded with a collective sense of achievement and a commitment to return for the tournament’s third edition in 2027.
