Ouagadougou: The National Collective for Refoundation (CNR) distributed school kits in Ouagadougou on Thursday to support the orphans of Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) who lost their lives in the line of duty. This initiative was timed just days before the start of the new school year to provide relief to families affected by the loss of a parent who served in the fight for security in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, several dozen children received essential school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, books, and pens. CNR President Felixien Guissou emphasized that the gesture, while material, also serves as an act of solidarity, humanism, and patriotism. He expressed the hope that the ongoing conflict would end soon but pledged continued support for the children as long as there is a need.
Guissou commended the bravery of the fallen soldiers and urged every Burkinabe to support their children. Silvert Kientega, another member of the Collective, encouraged all citizens to emulate the CNR's actions, expressing a wish for every orphaned child of the FDS or VDP to find parental figures among the Burkinabe people.
The CNR also expressed gratitude to the partners who facilitated the initiative and called for national mobilization to support the children of the nation's heroes.
