Ouagadougou: National Armed Forces officer Colonel Yaguibou Issa, appointed on February 26, 2026, as Chief of Staff of the Gendarmerie, officially took command of the institution on Tuesday in Ouagadougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Colonel Yaguibou has an extensive educational background, holding several advanced military diplomas from the Higher Gendarmerie Course, the Staff Course, and the War College in Morocco. Additionally, he possesses a law degree and a master's degree in defense and security.
Throughout his career, Colonel Yaguibou has held multiple command positions, including commander of gendarmerie companies, squadron commander, and commander of the Bobo-Dioulasso mobile group. His experience is further enhanced by his participation in international peacekeeping missions in Darfur and Guinea-Bissau.
Born on May 31, 1980, in P´, Colonel Yaguibou received his initial military training at the Kadiogo Military Academy before graduating as a second lieutenant from the Georges Namoano Military Academy in P´ in 2003. He succeeds Colonel Kouagri Natama, who has been at the helm of the national gendarmerie since October 2023.
