Ouagadougou: The new Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Colonel Issa Yaguibou, pledged on Thursday during the handover of command to serve the State with dedication and professionalism. He emphasized his commitment to contribute to the implementation of the main axes of the Progressive and Popular Revolution (RPP) to strengthen the foundations of economic and social progress in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Colonel Yaguibou, during the ceremony, stated that all personnel of the Gendarmerie reaffirm their loyalty to the Nation. He assured their commitment to serve with dedication and professionalism, aiming to fully support the successful implementation of RPP's main objectives for the nation's progress. Colonel Yaguibou also expressed his allegiance to the Head of State, who is the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, highlighting his pride in contributing to building a new Burkina Faso under the President's leadership.
Colonel Yaguibou outlined his command style as one based on listening, proximity, and rigor while valuing and empowering staff. He emphasized promoting values such as patriotism, loyalty, integrity, discipline, humility, and a sense of duty with the active involvement of the entire command chain.
His command priorities include combating terrorism and crime, protecting people and property, and reorganizing and strengthening the gendarmerie institutionally. Improving the institution's image, enhancing communication internally and externally, and fostering internal cohesion and collaboration with other structures are also key focuses for the new leadership.
Colonel Yaguibou expressed gratitude for his predecessor, Colonel Koagri Natama, acknowledging the pride and honor of having served under his command. Appointed on February 26, 2026, Colonel Yaguibou succeeds Colonel Natama Kouagri, with the handover presided over by Brigadier General Moussa Diallo, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
