New Coach Amir Abdou Aims to Revitalize Burkina Faso’s Stallions

Ouagadougou: The new coach of Burkina Faso's national football team, Amir Abdou, has vowed to inject "freshness" into the Stallions to meet the objectives set for him. This promise was made during his presentation in Ouagadougou, where he addressed the media about his plans for the team.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Abdou, a Franco-Comorian coach, expressed his intention to analyze the team's last four matches to identify unbalanced positions and introduce new talent. Despite acknowledging the limited time available, he conveyed confidence in his ability to adapt quickly to the situation. After his introduction, Abdou received the national flag and the Stallions' jersey, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and national pride.

Abdou set ambitious goals for the Stallions, aiming to position them among the top eight teams in Africa. He acknowledged the high expectations from the people of Burkina Faso, describing himself as a competitor determined to meet these demands. "When you put on the jersey, people need to understand that the national team is above everything else because you play for a country," Abdou stated, underscoring the significance of national representation.

The Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) has tasked Abdou with advancing the team in international competitions and achieving their first-ever qualification for the World Cup. FBF president Oumarou Sawadogo also hopes to see the Stallions finish in the African top 10. Abdou plans to implement a new approach with the players to meet these objectives, acknowledging the scrutiny he faces in his new role.

Pascal Yougbare, the FBF's national technical director, explained that Abdou was selected from over 80 applicants due to his experience, skills, and adaptability. Yougbare praised Abdou as a professional coach capable of meeting challenges and surrounding himself with capable individuals, qualities deemed crucial for the success of Burkina Faso's national team.
