Nahouri: A cross-border project to strengthen inclusive governance in the PONASI complex presented to partners: The leaders of the Inclusive Cross-Border Governance (GIT-BF-GH) project held a presentation meeting on Thursday, December 4, 2024, in Po, Nahouri Province. The project aims to strengthen the inclusive cross-border governance system for landscape restoration and biodiversity conservation, reconnecting the PONASI complex with wildlife corridors in Burkina Faso and Ghana.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso and Ghana share important corridors for the natural movement of wildlife, including elephants, between the two countries. The functionality of these corridors requires collaboration between stakeholders in both countries and on both sides of the border. Therefore, strengthening the capacities of national stakeholders and establishing a cross-border collaboration system is essential.

It is therefore to overcome these difficulties that the project to strengthen the inclusive cross-border governance system for landscape restoration and biodiversity conservation, reconnecting the PONASI complex and the Burkinabe and Ghanaian wildlife corridors, was initiated by the nature and development association (NATUDEV) and its partners.

The meeting in Po therefore aims to present the project, the practical arrangements for its implementation and to request the support of all stakeholders along the two elephant corridors of the two countries. After a presentation of the project by the president of the NATUDEV association, Alexis Kabore, followed by discussions, the participants appreciated the initiative which will promote the safe movement of wildlife between Burkina Faso and Ghana and thereby improve the socio-economic conditions of the local populations through the development of natural resources.
