Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Betamou Fidele Aymar Tamini, signed an agreement for a three-year cultural program between Burkina Faso and the Russian House in Burkina Faso. This agreement, signed on January 16, 2026, aims to enhance cultural cooperation between the two nations from 2026 to 2028.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative follows a cultural cooperation agreement signed on July 9, 2025. Ms. Alla Konstantinovna Sama Trukhina of the Russian House expressed satisfaction with the program, which seeks to establish cultural exchange through mutual discovery and dialogue. The program will focus on promoting Russian language, history, and culture while fostering artistic exchanges with Burkina Faso.
Trukhina announced plans for the Russian House to participate in significant cultural events, including the National Culture Week. The Secretary-General highlighted that the program is structured around three strategic pillars: strengthening knowledge of Russian language and history, promoting the arts and cultures of both nations, and fostering intercultural understanding.
Burkina Faso is committed to a balanced cultural dialogue, emphasizing mutual enrichment. The program will focus on artistic expression, particularly in music, film, literature, and visual arts, with opportunities for artist residencies and collaborations. With a budget of 241,920,000 CFA francs, the program aims for effective and inclusive implementation, hoping to strengthen ties between the Russian Federation and Burkina Faso.
