Zondoma/Patriotic Action: An Association Provides Food to VDP, Students, and Vulnerable People

Zondoma: The Faso Manegre Association of Kontigue (AFMK) has made a significant donation to support the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), students, and vulnerable residents in the commune of Gourcy. The association contributed six 100 kg bags of beans and eight 100 kg bags of corn during a ceremony at the High Commission in Gourcy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative, led by Adara Ouedraogo, president of the Faso Manegre Association of Kontigue, aligns with a national call from the President of Burkina Faso for citizens to demonstrate solidarity and engage in civic activities. The donation seeks to bolster food security for various groups in the community.

The distribution plan specifies that the six bags of beans are allocated to the VDP, while the eight bags of corn will be shared equally among students and vulnerable individuals in Kontigue. These food supplies are a product of the association's own agricultural efforts, which included cultivating over two hectares in the previous season.

The handover took place during the year's first flag-raising ceremony on Monday, January 12, 2026, led by the High Commissioner of Zondoma Province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabe, who commended the association's contribution. The Faso Manegre Association of Kontigue, established less than three years ago, consists of 246 members, predominantly women, and focuses on sanitation and environmental restoration. The association is headquartered in Kontigue, located approximately 7 km northwest of Gourcy.
