Nouna:Koosin/Nouna: As part of the activities leading up to the final of the 4th edition of the "Maracana de la Resilience" tournament, a cycling race was held on the main street of Nouna, emphasizing resilience and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the women's cycling event featured 46 participants racing on a 2km circuit, while the men's race included 12 competitors on a 5km course. The event's sponsor, Awa Oudraogo/Konat, stressed the importance of uniting young people around shared ideals, particularly focusing on the development of Koosin. She encouraged promoting social cohesion, community spirit, and entrepreneurship.
The men's race sponsor, Mathias Bagayogo, represented by Ernest Kienou, highlighted the symbolic meaning of each pedal stroke as a testament to resilience and courage. In the women's race, Elise Traor secured victory by narrowly surpassing Djnba Sawadogo in the final moments. Sakinatou and Ramatou Zou also achieved notable results according to the organizers.
Elise Traor was awarded a bicycle, an envelope containing 15,000 FCFA, a 25 kg bag of rice, and a t-shirt for her win. Meanwhile, in the men's race, Amadou Zalla led from the beginning to the end, earning a bicycle, a 25 kg bag of rice, and an envelope with 19,000 FCFA as his prize.
Additional special prizes were distributed to participants, including recognitions for the youngest and oldest competitors. Organizers reported that the top three in each category received bags of rice and cash prizes, with second place receiving 7,500 FCFA, third place 5,000 FCFA, and fourth place also receiving 7,500 FCFA.
The promoter of the 4th edition of the "Maracana de la Resilience" tournament aims to continue strengthening social cohesion and bringing happiness to the community. This edition marked the return of the men's cycling race, which was absent in the previous edition, thereby expanding the tournament's activities focused on resilience.
