Zondoma: Two ambulances and equipment worth over 40 million were handed over to the firefighters. The governor of the Djr region, Siaka Barro, officially handed over two ambulances and equipment to the 15th fire and rescue company on Friday in Gaoua, as part of a solidarity initiative that has mobilized more than 41 million FCFA from the population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation consists of two ambulances, an Aloba-type motorcycle, two computers, and fuel vouchers. The initiative's sponsor, Governor Siaka Barro, launched this effort on February 2, 2026, during a monthly flag-raising ceremony in Dano, raising over 41 million FCFA through contributions from the region's sons and daughters.

"This initiative aims in particular to improve the capacity to respond to traffic accidents and other emergency situations," the governor explained. Comrade Barro praised the mobilization of the people and invited them to continue this dynamic of solidarity and contribution to the development of Burkina Faso. He also urged the firefighters to make good use of the equipment received to enhance their ability to save lives.

Representing the commander of the National Fire Brigade, Commander Blaise Waongo expressed his gratitude to the authorities and people of Djr for their support of the 15th fire and rescue company of Gaoua. He stated that this initiative reflects the public's commitment to civil protection and strengthening the capacity of emergency services. He assured them that the equipment received would be used carefully and for its intended purpose.

Comrade Commander Waongo finally called for continued solidarity and collaboration between the population and public services, particularly the firefighters. The donors' representative, Ini Agn¨s Hien, indicated that the donation of these ambulances is an expression of active solidarity and proof that, when Burkina Faso calls on its daughters and sons, everyone can respond to the extent of their abilities.

"An ambulance is not just a vehicle. An ambulance might be a mother we can evacuate in time. It might be a child we can rescue. It might be an accident victim who will arrive at the hospital a few minutes earlier," she added. She called for continued national solidarity and the mobilization of vital forces to support public services.

The handover of this equipment thus constitutes additional support to the intervention capabilities of the 15th fire and rescue company of Gaoua.
