Dj´r´: The governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, launched the sanitation component of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development in Gaoua. This initiative focuses on clearing gutters, conducting sanitation operations, and running awareness campaigns to emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this phase of the initiative will include a comprehensive program of activities across the 28 municipalities of the region, spanning from May to October 2026. Governor Barro commended the country's leadership for their commitment to improving the well-being of the population.
The governor outlined that while the first component of the initiative focused on socio-economic infrastructure, the second component is dedicated to sanitation. This aims to enhance living conditions, protect the environment, strengthen public health, promote hygiene, combat environmental degradation, and prevent health risks. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to involve communities actively in the development process, encouraging them to improve their living conditions.
Governor Barro also highlighted the critical role of citizen involvement, urging people to adopt responsible behaviors to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment. He expressed his gratitude to all participants in this initiative's implementation.
The regional population is encouraged to participate actively in the sanitation days, contributing to the sustainable improvement of the living environment in the Dj´r´ region.
