“D?m? Sira” Campaign Raises Over One Billion CFA Francs for Vulnerable Populations

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant-Colonel Pelagie Kabore/Kabre, announced that the "D?m? Sira" campaign has successfully raised over one billion CFA francs to support vulnerable people, marking a significant milestone just halfway through its course.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign was initiated on November 14, 2025, and has so far gathered a total of 1,132,254,000 CFA francs. Of this amount, 635,473,509 CFA francs were collected through financial contributions, while 496,781,703 CFA francs were in-kind donations, mainly comprising food and essential goods for those in need.

During a press briefing held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Lieutenant-Colonel Pelagie Kabore/Kabre expressed satisfaction with the level of mobilization, highlighting the commitment shown by citizens and partners toward supporting the most vulnerable social groups.

The minister specified that the raised resources would primarily aid vulnerable individuals, including orphans, the elderly, people with disabilities, and distressed households. She also underscored a significant initiative involving the auction of artwork created by internally displaced children and soldiers wounded in operations. This auction generated 11 million CFA francs, which was fully allocated to the beneficiaries, supporting them while recognizing their creativity and resilience.

The Burkinabe state contributed 125 million CFA francs to facilitate the organization and execution of campaign-related activities, demonstrating its support for this cause.

Beyond providing immediate assistance, the campaign aims to foster sustainable development. The funds will support income-generating activities, rehabilitate social infrastructure, assist internally displaced individuals, and enhance healthcare access for the most vulnerable.

Through the "D?m? Sira" campaign, Burkinabe authorities aim to bolster social cohesion and promote a collective response to the humanitarian and social challenges the nation faces.
