Ouagadougou: DORAL 2026 concludes in a festive atmosphere with the awarding of prizes to the best competitors. The second and final day of the DORAL community activity, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Sports, Youth and Employment of Soum in close collaboration with the High Commission of the province of Soum, ended on Saturday evening in Djibo with a closing ceremony marked by the presentation of awards to the winners of the different disciplines.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the High Commissioner of the Soum province, Comrade Wend Nere Wilfried TOUGMA, and saw a large crowd gathered to celebrate the values of social cohesion, fraternity, and unity. The awards ceremony took place in a friendly and festive atmosphere, with the best competitors in various disciplines receiving their prizes in the presence of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), and a highly mobilized population.
The competitors were rewarded with cash prizes ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 FCFA, bags of rice, buckets, medals, and various everyday items. The top three finishers in each discipline were recognized in events including p©tanque, ludo (both men's and women's categories), checkers, Dily (War), and card games. Special prizes were awarded in p©tanque for the best shooter and the best pointer.
One of the highlights of the event was the women's cycling competition, where the top ten cyclists were rewarded for their performances. The winner of this event will receive, in addition to her prizes, a brand new bicycle, which will be officially presented at a later date.
In his speech, High Commissioner TOUGMA praised the strong mobilization and commitment of the population towards social cohesion and community building. He extended his congratulations to the provincial directors and department heads for their involvement in the event's success, specifically acknowledging the efforts of Comrade Lazare Auguste NADINGA, the provincial director of Sports, Youth and Employment, for the excellent organization.
The High Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces for their ongoing efforts to secure the province and commended the traditional and religious leaders, as well as the entire population, for their role in fostering peace, social cohesion, and community relations.
The enthusiastic participation and strong mobilization of the Djibo population during the two-day event underscored their dedication to the values of solidarity, fraternity, and unity. DORAL 2026, through these values, has become a true platform for promoting social cohesion and community living in the province of Soum.
