Ouagadougou:Norbert Zongo University: Emmanuel Kama successfully defended his doctoral thesis in educational sciences, with a focus on educational policies, at Norbert Zongo University (UNZ). His research centered on ensuring educational continuity for primary school students in stabilized areas of Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the thesis titled "Return to Normality and Educational Continuity for Primary School Students in Stabilized Areas of Burkina Faso," highlighted the conditions necessary for children who have experienced displacement to return to school. Following the defense, Kama was awarded his doctorate with the highest distinction.

Emmanuel Kama described the completion of his thesis as the culmination of three years of hard work, which included moments of doubt and anxiety. He expressed gratitude for the support of his thesis supervisor, whom he described as both accessible and understanding.

Kama emphasized the political and social importance of his research, suggesting that the findings could aid decision-makers in formulating educational policies suitable for post-conflict areas to promote ongoing education.

Professor Fran§ois Sawadogo, chair of the jury, commended the thesis for its solid scientific foundation and for exploring the concept of "security assurance" in relation to students, parents, and socio-environmental factors. He noted the work's scientific value in understanding the returnees' situation.

Dr. Gnineyo Sylvestre-Pierre Niya, the thesis director, explained that area stabilization alone isn't enough to ensure children return to school. He stressed the need for families to feel secure, which was linked to the willingness to resume school activities. He also praised Kama's perseverance and receptiveness to feedback throughout the research process.
