The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE received in audience this afternoon, the Stallions Ladies U20, who won the bronze medal (3rd place) at the Union of West Federations tournament -African football, zone B (UFOA-B), in Accra, Ghana.
Captain Ibrahim TRAORE praised this good performance of the U20 Ladies Stallions at this first edition of the UFOA-B tournament which was held from May 20 to June 3, 2023 in Accra, Ghana.
“This is the first time that Burkina Faso shines in the field of women's football. I would like to say congratulations to the fighters who were on the ground, to the technical staff for having contributed to the influence of the image of Burkina Faso. We hope that soon, it will be the Gold medal, “said the Head of State to the U20 Ladies Stallions.
The President of the Transition invited the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF) to work to raise the level of women's football in Burkina Faso for more victories for future deadlines. “At our level, we will do everything to provide you with good infrastructure for better conditions. When you play, everyone follows you, including the fighters who are at the front. There is a lot of joy when you have victory and that is also a game-changer,” added the Head of State.
The President of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF), Lazare BANSSE expressed his gratitude to the Head of State "for this very special attention to this women's team because it is the very first time that a women's team is received by a Head of State". For him, women's football is evolving and this audience is an invitation to better develop this football, to work more so that next time the women's Stallions can bring back the gold medal.
For the coach of the Stallions ladies Pascal SAWADOGO, all the actors of women's football feel honored with this audience granted by the Head of State. “We came back with the bronze medal, for us it's feelings of pride, feelings of a job well done even if we couldn't win the trophy. It's only the beginning and the best is yet to come,” said coach SAWADOGO.
The captain of the team, Alimata BELEM, showed her satisfaction with the performance of the whole team in Ghana and promised the people of Burkina Faso the gold medal for future competitions. This team of Stallions Ladies can count on the good will of the Minister in charge of sports, Boubacar SAVADOGO who has indicated his availability and his willingness to accompany women's football to reach the top.
