Kaya:Twenty-two former combatants and soldiers have completed a three-day poultry farming training course in Kaya. The program aims to assist their socio-economic reintegration and contribute to Burkina Faso's food sovereignty.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the training was organized by the Delegation for Veterans and Former Military Personnel, with technical support from the regional directorate in charge of animal resources of Kouls. It covered essential aspects such as livestock infrastructure, feeding, hygiene, prophylaxis, vaccination, and production monitoring.
Colonel William Aristide Nassidia Combary, representing the Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, presided over the closing ceremony. He encouraged participants to implement their new knowledge through practical projects. The program has already trained about sixty former soldiers in Ouagadougou, with plans to train thirty more in Fada N'Gourma, targeting at least 100 beneficiaries by 2026.
Kiemd Daouda, from the regional animal resources services, emphasized the importance of adhering to the technical and sanitary standards taught during the training. Participants were assured of continued support from field agents.
Ousmane Tassambedo, a retired captain and participant, praised the initiative, highlighting the valuable skills in prophylaxis and isolation that he learned. He expressed his readiness to apply these skills in future projects.
The Delegation for Veterans and Former Military Personnel aims to support ex-military personnel in transitioning to new income-generating activities through such training programs.
