Ouagadougou: The Association of Former Students of the Gourcy Centre School "A" made a donation of food to their school on Monday, November 10, 2025. "We feel indebted to this school where we took our first steps to become what we are today," said the president of the association, El Adj Seydou Ouedraogo, to justify their initiative.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation comprised 20 25kg bags of rice, 5 100kg bags of beans, and 5 20-liter jerrycans of oil. These food supplies were received by the Head of the Gourcy 2 Basic Education District, Patoim Sankara, in the courtyard of the Gourcy "A" school. The event was attended by students, teachers, and parent representatives.
"I invite all others who have attended this school to join us in continuing this work we have begun," added Mr. Ouedraogo. On behalf of the beneficiaries, the district head expressed his gratitude to the donors, while urging the Gourcy "A" educational community to make good use of these supplies. He noted that the donation would contribute to improving the students' learning conditions.
Before departing, the members of the delegation, all from the 1968-1976 cohort, toured the school premises to reminisce about 50 years ago. As a reminder, Gourcy "A" school opened its doors in 1937 and currently has 516 students.
