Ouagadougou: The National Museum of Burkina Faso (MNBF) has unveiled a compelling new exhibition titled 'RUPTURE' in Ouagadougou, showcasing the works of four prominent figures in Burkinabe visual arts. The exhibition, which is open to the public from September 18 to October 18, 2026, highlights the unique perspectives and interpretations of Siriki Ky, Christophe Sawadogo, Nyaba Ouedraogo, and Abou Traor on the theme of rupture.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a panel discussion was held during the opening, allowing the artists to share their insights on the theme. They described rupture as not merely a break but a passage, a challenge, and an opportunity for transformation. Christophe Sawadogo, a painter, discussed his approach to the theme by exploring the missing links in art history and using the color red to address social issues like excision.
The exhibition also features significant works such as "Broken Pen," a tribute to journalist Norbert Zongo, and "Pelican Tears," an installation inspired by a fire, explained artist Ky Siriki. The artists emphasized the importance of risk-taking in their creative processes and the role of art in probing the identities and social realities of Burkina Faso.

In his opening remarks, Sabari Christian Dao, the Director General of the National Museum, expressed gratitude to authorities and partners for their support.
