Gaongo: The Gaongo Basic Education District (CEB) hosted the celebration of the Day of the Schoolgirl on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The objective is to promote girls' well-being and academic success.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this day dedicated to schoolgirls in the commune of Gaongo aimed to enable them to lead fulfilling lives and succeed in their education. The event was themed "Girls in School: Hygiene, Equity, and Empowerment - Pillars of Success," and was initiated by a group of teachers from Gaongo Primary School.

Armel Akossongo Aou©nass©, the organizer, stated that the day was created to assist girls in the community to succeed in school with fewer challenges. To achieve this aim, various awareness sessions were conducted in collaboration with certain partners. These sessions focused on the importance of school, personal hygiene, kitchen hygiene, and road safety, benefiting students and the educational community.

The event featured several activities, including an inter-school football tournament and cultural activities such as recitals and slam poetry. Youssouf Bassia, head of the Gaongo CEB, praised the organizers, emphasizing that such initiatives should be replicated to allow young girls to thrive and continue their studies without difficulty.

The day was attended by teachers, students, the educational community, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), and a delegation of partners. Mr. Aou©nass© expressed his satisfaction with this first edition and thanked the head of the CEB for the support shown. He also extended his gratitude to the teachers, partners, community watchdogs, and the local population for their support.
