Gendarmerie Enforces Strict Helmet Regulations in Nobr

Nobr:The territorial gendarmerie brigade in Nobr has intensified its enforcement of helmet use among road users, following the commencement of a crackdown on October 1.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation, led by Warrant Officer Martin Kabor, resulted in the apprehension of many individuals not adhering to helmet regulations. Chief Warrant Officer Kassouma Damani, deputy commander of the brigade, emphasized the objective of the initiative to save lives by enforcing existing laws and reducing accidents involving two- and three-wheeled vehicles, which frequently occur in Nobr.

During this enforcement, gendarmes required that no vehicle be released without the presentation of a helmet and payment of the corresponding fine. Offenders largely acknowledged their mistakes and expressed support for the initiative. One road user admitted regret for not complying with the helmet requirement, acknowledging the role of the gendarmerie in protecting lives and reducing youth mortality due to high-speed driving.

Another individual reiterated support for the legal mission, appreciating the gendarmerie's efforts to enforce the Highway Code, which he believes will prevent many accidents. He reflected on a personal experience that highlighted the risk of even short, helmetless trips.

Chief Warrant Officer Damani stated that the gendarmerie will continue to intensify checks until helmet use becomes a habitual practice in Nobr. The operations are set to persist as long as violations occur.
