Kenedougou: The Gogo Basic Education District (CEB), through the Organization of School Sport, Culture and Leisure (OSCEP), concluded its sports and cultural activities for the 2025-2026 school year on Saturday. The ceremony featured the handball and football finals, with the highlight being the victory of Gogo A school in football.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Gogo A team secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Mouzi school in the final held on the Gogo communal field, thus claiming the championship trophy for the 2026 edition. The event, themed “Patriotic commitment and citizenship: what can be the contribution of the students of the CEB of Gogo through sport and culture?”, brought together administrative and customary authorities, supervisors, students, and education partners to emphasize the values of social cohesion and patriotism.
The edition, launched on January 28, 2026, at the Kondre school, saw participation from 26 schools across various sports and cultural disciplines. Sporting events focused on football and handball, while cultural activities included traditional dance, modern dance, poetry, and theatre.
Bila Dramane, Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Gogo, acknowledged the support from various stakeholders and expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the event’s success. He highlighted the importance of sport and culture in shaping learners’ personalities, who are the future builders of the nation, and thanked local authorities, sponsors, and the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Education, Bouda Valentin.
Nabikinga de Gogo commended the competitions’ smooth running, noting the spirit of fraternity, discipline, and fair play. Clarisse Kabore, communications officer at KIAKA SA, urged students to embody patriotism and civic-mindedness. The President of the special delegation (PDS) of Gogo praised the population’s strong mobilization and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of prizes to the winners of the various sporting and cultural competitions.
