Tuy: The 1st D2 Team Wins the Provincial High School Principal’s Cup


Kenedougou: The final of the Tuy Provincial High School Principal’s Cup was won by the 1st D2 team on Monday, May 25, 2026, against the 2nd C2, with a score of 3 goals to 1.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the first D2 team opened the scoring in the first half, leading 1-0 at the break. In the second half, they scored two more goals. The second C2 team pulled one back, but couldn’t find an equalizer.

At the final whistle, the first D2 team was crowned champion of the 2026 edition. They received the trophy, a ball, and a cash prize. The second C2 team, runners-up, were also rewarded.

The final featured artistic performances during the break, including a slam poem about the harmful effects of female genital mutilation, as well as gymnastics demonstrations. Launched on January 28, 2026, the competition saw 18 matches played and 48 goals scored.

A total of 19 teams, representing all grade levels in the school, participated. The tournament included football for boys and handball for girls. The winning
handball teams also received prizes.

The principal of the Tuy Provincial High School, Yirbeen-Hib Some, indicated that this competition strengthens cohesion among students and fosters healthy competition. He expressed his satisfaction with the 2026 edition and thanked the partners and his colleagues.

Present at the final, the regional director of secondary education, vocational and technical training of Guiriko, Tanga Ouedraogo, expressed his joy at attending this final. He stated that school sports contribute to the education and training of young people. The meeting took place in the presence of the provincial director in charge of secondary education for Tuy, Seydou Traore.
