Guiriko: The Bobo-Dioulasso Court of Appeal recently welcomed a significant courtesy visit from the Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konate/Gnanou, as part of New Year's greetings extended to the justice system members.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor's visit on January 22, 2026, aimed to convey wishes of health, peace, and success to magistrates and judicial staff. During her visit, Governor Konate/Gnanou commended the justice system's workforce for their outstanding achievements, despite having limited resources, and encouraged them to continue their dedicated service to the community.

The Governor also highlighted the positive and open collaboration between the judicial and administrative authorities in the region. She stressed that judicial independence does not equate to animosity, and collaboration should not be mistaken for interference in judicial processes.

Attorney General Mr. Adama Kafando expressed his pleasure at the Governor's visit, describing it as a pleasant surprise for the justice system's members. He extended his gratitude to Governor Konate/Gnanou and reiterated that both the judiciary and the administration aim to enhance the population's well-being, underscoring the absence of barriers between these institutions.

First President of the Court of Appeal, Mr. Etienne Sama, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the role of justice in mending the social fabric during challenging times. He concluded with the proverb, "The branch never breaks under the chameleon's feet," symbolizing the resilience and adaptability needed in the judicial system.

The visit concluded on a positive note with a group photo, marking a warm and collaborative atmosphere.
