Ouagadougou: Guelba school crowned champion of the 2026 season at the CEB of Gourcy 1. The Guelba school emerged victorious from the final marking the end of the sports and cultural season of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Gourcy 1, played this Thursday, April 30, 2026 on the Tanglonghin field.

According to Burkina Information Agency, after the opening kick-off by Bosso Toe Kaba Tere, president of the Gourcy special delegation, the school from sector 5 began the match hoping to repeat their success from the previous season. However, they hadn't counted on Guelba's determination, as they were determined to lift the trophy for the first time.

After 60 minutes of play, the teams remained deadlocked. It took a penalty shootout for the Guelba school to finally prevail, winning 3-2. So it was with great joy that captain Syprien Sawadogo and his teammates raised the trophy, accompanied by a sum of 50,000 CFA francs, a ball and a set of jerseys.

For the head of the constituency, Hamidou Sawadogo, this victory is also that of all the actors of the CEB who mobilized for the success of the season which has just ended. "I have words of thanks to all the actors who have been able to create this framework for the development of children and I invite them to mobilize even more for the success of future editions, for the happiness of the children," said the head of OSCEP in the district.

The day before, students showcased their talents in artistic performances during the cultural day held at Saint-Joseph School. Athletics competitions, a cross-country race, and a dance also marked the closing of the sports and cultural season for the Gourcy 1 CEB (Basic Education Center), sponsored by Ramatou Ouedraogo, known as Rinoodo.

As a reminder, 38 teams participated in the football competition at the season's launch on December 8, 2025.
