Workers and Students Join Forces in Iolonioro for May Day Celebrations

Ouagadougou: The municipality of Iolonioro celebrated International Workers' Day on Friday, May 1, in an atmosphere marked by fraternity and social cohesion. The event brought together workers from the public and informal sectors, as well as students, under the patronage of the president of the special delegation (PDS), Joachim Konkobo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activities began in the morning with a march through the main streets of the town. Approximately one kilometer round trip, this procession was punctuated by messages calling for solidarity, unity, and hard work. It ended at the sports field of the Iolonioro "A" public primary school.

Participants then took part in a group aerobics session, promoting relaxation and strengthening bonds between workers and students. This popular sporting activity also aimed to promote health and team spirit.

The commemoration continued with a gathering at the same site, featuring board games that pitted workers against students in a friendly atmosphere. A community meal was also shared by all participants, reflecting the local stakeholders' commitment to strengthening ties between the various socio-professional groups within the community.

In his address, the head of the special delegation, Joachim Konkobo, praised the strong mobilization of Iolonioro's active forces. He paid tribute to the workers for their contribution to local development and urged them to cultivate peace, solidarity, and a strong work ethic in order to meet current challenges.

The May Day celebration in Iolonioro ended in general satisfaction, with a renewed commitment from participants to make work a real lever for development at the community level.
