Bobo-dioulasso: On the occasion of the traditional raising of the regional colors, the comrade governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konat©/Gnanou, delivered this Tuesday in Bobo-Dioulasso, the message of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, marking the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the flag-raising ceremony for the Guiriko region for this month of July was held at the Pala Reference Hospital in Bobo-Dioulasso. On this occasion, the region's governor, Mariama Konat©/Gnanou, conveyed to the assembled dignitaries the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, concerning the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
In his address, the Head of State recalled that the AES was born from "the firm will of our three States to provide a common response to the security crisis" and to build "a collective architecture of defence, security and mutual assistance, based on solidarity, sovereignty and shared responsibility."
The message also highlighted the achievements of the Confederation in its two years of existence. The President of Burkina Faso emphasized that "two years after its creation, the results are tangible," specifically mentioning the strengthening of political and diplomatic cooperation and the increasing effectiveness of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed that "we are one people, one space, one shared destiny," while calling on the population to remain mobilized in the face of security, economic, and media challenges.
Addressing the prospects for the Confederation, Captain Ibrahim Traor© urged the peoples of the Sahel to continue their efforts to consolidate the foundations of integration. "The future of the Confederation will depend less on our speeches than on our collective capacity to work harder, produce more, innovate more, and relentlessly strengthen our unity," he declared, before calling for adherence to the Year 2 roadmap of the AES in order to build "a Sahel of peace, sovereignty, development, and shared prosperity."
In a civic and patriotic spirit, the constituted bodies of the Guiriko region renewed their commitment to the ideals of the popular progressive revolution and to the ideal of a sovereign and prosperous Sahel.
