Ziniar©: The Energy Sector Regulatory Authority (ARSE) opened an information and awareness workshop for local authorities on the legal and institutional framework of the energy sector yesterday, Monday, in Ziniar©. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Governor of the Oubri region, Sy Ass©tou Barry.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the objective of this workshop is to strengthen the knowledge of local government stakeholders in order to promote a coherent, effective, and concerted implementation of public policies in the energy sector. More than fifty participants, from the special municipal and regional delegations of the Kouls©, Oubri, and Kadiogo regions, are taking part in this awareness meeting initiated by ARSE.

The president of ARSE, Jean-Baptiste Ky, emphasized that local authorities constitute an essential link in the governance of the energy sector. "The law gives local authorities a central responsibility in the planning and implementation of public energy policies," he said, believing that a better understanding of the legal and institutional framework will contribute to more effective and inclusive energy governance.

Presiding over the opening ceremony, Governor Sy Ass©tou Barry praised the ARSE initiative and the choice of the Oubri region to host the meeting. "This workshop represents a real opportunity for local government officials to better understand their prerogatives in energy matters, to exercise their responsibilities and to contribute to effective energy governance," she stressed. She also reiterated that regaining energy sovereignty is a key pillar of the current authorities' actions.

The Ziniar© visit follows those in Koudougou and Tenkodogo. As a reminder, ARSE is a public institution responsible for regulating, controlling, and monitoring activities in the energy sector, protecting the interests of users, and contributing to the resolution of disputes.
