Ouagadougou: Heavy rainfall recorded during the night of August 8-9, 2026 caused damage to a bridge located at the exit of Banzon, on the road linking the town to Samogouan. The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Banzon, Si Poda, visited the site on the morning of Monday, August 10, 2026, to see firsthand the extent of the damage caused by the runoff water.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the significant rise in water levels has weakened the structure, causing its partial deterioration and compromising the movement of users on this busy route connecting several localities in the province. On this occasion, the Banzon PDS indicated that the competent technical services will be contacted as soon as possible for a thorough assessment of the situation and the implementation of appropriate measures to restore traffic safely.

'The protection of public infrastructure remains a priority. We will take the necessary steps with the relevant bodies so that a solution is found as soon as possible,' said Si Poda. He also urged the public and road users to be vigilant and to respect safety instructions, particularly during this rainy season when heavy rains can affect the condition of structures and communication routes. The head of the municipality also urged residents to report any damage to infrastructure without delay in order to allow for a rapid response from the competent authorities.
