High Commissioner Calls for Sovereign Purchases at National Event

Toma:Honor Frédéric Par, High Commissioner of Nayala Province, delivered a message from the President of Burkina Faso during a flag-raising ceremony on Monday. The event marked the official launch of the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), focusing on making every purchase an act of sovereignty by prioritizing local products.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative is themed "Let's produce Burkinabe, let's consume Burkinabe!" and promotes the slogan "All for Made in Burkina Let's make every purchase an act of sovereignty." The President of Burkina Faso highlighted production, processing, and consumption as key areas to address for achieving economic sovereignty.

The President urged producers to increase their capacities, processors to enhance the value of national raw materials, and consumers to prioritize Burkinabe products. He also emphasized the need to combat fraud, smuggling, hoarding of stocks, and other practices that undermine national production. Government departments were encouraged to incorporate national preference in public procurement, canteens, supplies, and services.

Additionally, the President called on the Burkinabe people to plant trees, support national initiatives, and promote "Made in Burkina," especially among young people and the diaspora.

During the ceremony, the High Commissioner introduced the commander of the new unit of the Republican Security Company (CRS), enhancing the provincial security framework. Bibata Diallo, the provincial director of family and solidarity, highlighted the significance of the flag-raising ceremony as a moment of unity around national ideals and respect for institutions. Her department focuses on social protection, family promotion, and supporting vulnerable populations, working with internally displaced persons and returnees to foster autonomy and resilience through agricultural support, livestock farming, and income-generating activities.
