Baku: The High Commissioner of the Ziro Province, Saba Zorom©, officially launched the provincial reforestation campaign on Monday in the village of Baouiga-Yorgo, commune of Sapouy, following the launch of the national campaign on June 29. The ceremony drew several administrative, traditional, and religious leaders, along with representatives of civil society organizations and key figures in the province, highlighting a collective commitment to environmental preservation and combating the degradation of natural resources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner emphasized that the campaign transcends the mere act of planting trees. "Beyond planting trees, it is hope that we are planting; it is a strong commitment to pass on to future generations the culture of environmental responsibility," stated Saba Zorom©. He encouraged provincial actors to embrace the motto "One institution, one grove" with the aim of making Ziro a leading example in environmental protection and vegetation restoration.

Zorom© highlighted that the campaign's success hinges not only on the quantity of trees planted but also on the ongoing care and maintenance of the groves and reforested areas. The ceremony featured a symbolic planting of various tree species and included messages promoting environmental protection and sustainable practices.

Provincial authorities aim to bolster community involvement in reforestation efforts, contributing to national initiatives to restore ecosystems and mitigate the effects of climate change.
