Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Oudraogo, urged the 507 conscripts of the second cohort of the Compulsory Patriotic Immersion (IPO), 2026 edition, on Tuesday in Kongoussi, to cultivate discipline, patriotism, civic-mindedness and a sense of duty in order to contribute to the building of a strong, sovereign and resilient Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the second cohort of the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion (IPO) program officially began Tuesday at the provincial high school in Kongoussi. On this occasion, the High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Oudraogo, urged the participants, comprised of 87 women and 220 men, to make discipline, patriotism, and a sense of duty the foundations of their civic engagement.
Karim Oudraogo urged the conscripts to respect the rules of discipline, to develop team spirit, solidarity, respect for authority and a taste for effort. He also encouraged them to get rid of behaviors that hinder their development in order to become role models for their communities.
After the official launch of the session, the participants listened to the audio message from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor, who called on them to place patriotism, discipline and work at the heart of their commitment to Burkina Faso.
Fatimata Woba, a student at the Tikar departmental high school, says she is ready to take on the challenge of the 30-day immersion program. 'I come from Bilanga, in the Sirba region, and I attended the Tikar high school. I am very happy about passing my baccalaureate exam and also about participating in this mandatory patriotic immersion program. We are very motivated and we know that in the end, this experience will be beneficial to us. We will follow the instructions of our supervisors as well as the message of the President of Burkina Faso. We will truly rise to the occasion,' she declared.
It's worth recalling that the first cohort of Bam recruits completed their immersion program in Loumbila, in the Oubri region, last year. This year, the event in Kongoussi is also a source of satisfaction for the province's high school graduates.
