Ouagadougou: Returnees from the commune of Douroula received equipment on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to support their socio-economic recovery. The official handover ceremony was presided over by Mamadou Djir, representative of the decentralized services of the Ministry of Family and Solidarity. The support consists of six carts and two mobile mills, with the carts allocated to the villages of Douroula, Kankono, Koussiri, Kassakongo, Sa, and Noraotenga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the localities of Souma and Tora were not included in this distribution, as they had previously received motorized cultivators. Mamadou Djir emphasized that this approach aims to ensure an equitable distribution of equipment between the different beneficiary communities. The two mobile mills are intended to improve access to grain processing services for the population, with one installed in Douroula and the other assigned to Kankono.

Mr. Djir highlighted that the mobile nature of this equipment will promote its use by all the villages concerned, to help lighten domestic work and improve the living conditions of households. He advocated for the continuation of support actions for the sustainable reintegration of returning populations.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, the coordinator of the women of Douroula, Zata Kota, expressed gratitude to the authorities, believing that this support will strengthen the economic autonomy of households. Similarly, representatives from Kankono and Koussiri welcomed the initiative and expressed their appreciation. The representative from Koussiri, Zei Denise, called for increased support for shea nut processing initiatives to promote income-generating activities.

These facilities were announced on June 30, 2026, during the visit of the Minister in charge of Family and Solidarity to Douroula, as part of government actions to support the recovery of returned populations.
