Ouagadougou: The Union of Bible Groups of Burkina Faso (UGBB) concluded its 9th National Missionary Convention on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Banakeledaga Institute for Biblical and Agricultural Training. The convention, which opened on August 16 under the theme “Accomplished Disciples on Mission,” brought together more than 300 participants from various regions of Burkina Faso and other countries, including Mali and Finland.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the closing ceremony was marked by moments of commitment to the mission and the proclamation of the Gospel. It also provided an opportunity for old friends from Gbus to reconnect with several church leaders.
The Minister of Basic Education, Literacy, and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthne Dingara, participated in the ceremony. “I am pleased to speak not as a minister, but as a product of the UGBB. The Gospel is a powerful means of transformation,” he declared. He called upon the Gbusians to fully embrace their commitment and to build a youth capable of contributing to the transformation of Burkina Faso.
The Secretary General of the UGBB, Dieudonn Yenpabou Tindano, commended the commitment of the participants and the support of the churches, partners, facilitators, speakers, and friends of the UGBB. He announced that the next national missionary convention is scheduled to take place in 2028 in Fada.
Representing the president of the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME), the organization’s Secretary General, Pastor Benjamin Tamini, commended the UGBB’s work and the holding of the convention. According to him, “this convention is shaping our young people into leaders and accomplished individuals for the mission, for the Church, and for our society.”
The director of IFBAB, the president of the Guiriko Regional Council of the UGBB, the secretary general of the sister movement in Finland, and the secretary general of the Union of Bible Groups of Mali also participated in the ceremony. The presence of representatives from Mali and Finland testifies to the significance of the convention and the role of the UGBB in the missionary movement. At the close of this 9th edition, the participants left with renewed commitments to mission and the proclamation of the Gospel in middle schools, high schools, and universities.
