Ouagadougou: The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Houet held a ceremony on Tuesday to honor the top performers in the education sector. The event, which took place in Bobo-Dioulasso, celebrated students, teachers, and other key contributors to the education system under the theme: 'School excellence in the service of national sovereignty: training responsible, competent and patriotic citizens'.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by Comrade Laurent Kontogom, the High Commissioner of Houet Province. The initiative aimed to acknowledge the accomplishments of the 2025-2026 school year and motivate stakeholders to maintain their dedication. The province's preschool, primary, and non-formal education director, Comrade Raoul Tuina, expressed satisfaction with Houet's impressive success rate of 96.77% in the 2026 Primary School Certificate (CEP) session.
Comrade Tuina remarked on the significance of celebrating these achievements, noting that 574 schools achieved a 100% success rate. He encouraged educators to continue striving for excellence. Comrade Kontogom echoed these sentiments, lauding the educational community's efforts and urging continued dedication from all involved.
On behalf of the awardees, Nonganaba Souma, the province's best teacher from the Bobo 4 Basic Education District, expressed appreciation for the support received from colleagues and students. He acknowledged their commitment, which was pivotal to the results achieved.
The ceremony featured the distribution of several awards, including certificates of recognition, transportation means like motorcycles and bicycles, educational materials, cash incentives, traditional Koko Donda fabric, and copies of the Manifesto of the People's Progressive Revolution. These awards aimed to honor contributors from the preschool, primary, and non-formal education sectors.
Frank Ricardo Sanou, the province's top student from Bindougousso "D" Primary School in the Bobo 3 District Education Center, achieved an outstanding average of 9.94/10 and was rewarded with a bicycle, school kit, and cash prize. Nonganaba Souma, the best teacher, received a motorcycle, certificate of recognition, school kit, and cash prize.
This initiative by the DPEPPNF of Houet is designed to foster a culture of excellence and encourage healthy competition among the province's educational institutions.
