Ouagadougou: Paulin Traor, a student at the Dakuy school, has dropped out of school due to an illness. His studies were interrupted in his final year of primary school because of a condition he has suffered since birth, which has been worsening year after year.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Paulin Traor was a student at the school in Dakuy, a village located 12 km east of Doumbala. Initially appearing as a small bump on the upper lip, the condition gradually progressed over the years. By July 28, 2026, the upper lip had grown to such a size that it completely covered the lower lip.

'I dropped out of school because I couldn't stand the way the other students looked at me anymore. My pimple got really big and it made me feel self-conscious. It was shame that made me quit school, even though it wasn't my choice. Even today, I look enviously at the children going to school and I often end up crying about it,' he confided. Her greatest wish is to resume her studies if the illness is cured or improves.

According to his school teacher's testimony, Paulin is a star and has always been among the top three. "This loss deeply affects me. His future is jeopardized," the teacher added.

The student's father, Beno®t Traor, explained that after an initial consultation at the Medical Center with surgical unit (CMA) in Nouna, his son was referred to the hospital in Ddougou, before being directed in turn to Bobo-Dioulasso. 'Upon arriving in Bobo-Dioulasso, our financial resources were quickly exhausted. Despite the debts incurred to ensure the care of my son, we were forced to interrupt treatment and return to Bankuy. Since our return, the tumor continues to grow and I now feel powerless in the face of the situation,' said Mr. Traor.

According to the student's mother, Brigitte Diarra, the button was tiny and the family never knew it would turn out this way. She implores God and all people of goodwill to come to their aid.
