Tenkodogo: Inaugural raising of the national colors at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Solidarity

The High Commissioner of Boulgou province, Dom¨gb¨gui¨re Constantin Dabire, presided over the inaugural ceremony of raising the national colors at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Solidarity of Boulgou. The event, held on Friday, was marked by messages promoting national solidarity, social cohesion, and the protection of vulnerable populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was made possible by the construction of a new flagpole, underscoring the commitment of administrative authorities and the people to the republican values of Burkina Faso. The High Commissioner emphasized that the act symbolizes a shared commitment to peace, solidarity, and social cohesion, aligning with the objectives of the month of national solidarity. He noted that it provides an opportunity to enhance assistance to vulnerable individuals and support internally displaced persons, which are priorities of public action.

The High Commissioner urged institutional actors, civil society, and the population to translate solidarity into concrete actions. He stressed that solidarity should be a daily and collective commitment, encouraging acts of generosity and sharing to support society's most vulnerable members.

Abdoulaye Soro, the Provincial Director of Family and Solidarity for Boulgou, addressed the participants, presenting his organization established in 1974. The directorate is tasked with protecting and promoting the rights of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. With 24 staff members, it operates through five technical departments, including the Studies and Coordination Department, Administrative and Financial Department, Women and Gender Promotion Department, Family and Child Department, and Solidarity, Humanitarian Assistance, and National Reconciliation Department.

Soro acknowledged the challenges faced by the directorate, including insufficient office space, lack of fencing, and absence of a meeting room and a borehole, which hinder the reception and care of users. Despite these challenges, Boulgou province had mobilized over 91 million CFA francs in kind and cash and collected 86 units of blood for the national solidarity campaign as of January 22, 2026.

The High Commissioner encouraged the continuation of solidarity actions to strengthen social cohesion and communal living in the province.
