Ioba: Minister of State Isma«l Sombi© Inaugurates Dano Sludge Treatment Plant

Ioba: Minister of State, Isma«l Sombi©, inaugurated a sludge treatment plant in Dano, built by the National Office of Water and Sanitation (ONEA) at a cost of 394 million CFA francs. The plant covers a 9-hectare site and includes multiple modules, storage areas, and essential infrastructure aimed at managing sewage sludge to reduce contamination risks and enhance agricultural productivity through compost production.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of State emphasized the importance of utilizing the new facility by urging the local population to dispose of sewage sludge exclusively at the plant for proper treatment. The initiative is expected to boost agricultural output by providing treated sludge for use in fields.

Idrissa Sourabi©, Director General of ONEA, highlighted the plant's role in strengthening sanitation and improving septic tank sludge management. He assured the commitment to sustainable management for the benefit of Dano's residents. The project, funded entirely by ONEA with German technical support through GIZ, also received local support through site provision and access road development by the municipality of Dano.
