Sandbondtenga: The Special Municipal Delegation of Kaya held its first Accountability Day on Thursday, April 30, 2026, under the theme "Transparency, citizen dialogue and social cohesion for inclusive local development", bringing together the constituted bodies as well as the development partners of the municipality. This day is part of the General Code of Territorial Authorities of Burkina Faso, which obliges municipalities to report on their administrative, economic and financial management.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special delegation of the Kaya municipality, Solange Kima/Minoungou, presented the 2025 report, highlighting progress in education, health, and sanitation, despite a challenging security situation. With a net budget of 1.282 billion CFA francs, the investments were made with the support of several development partners. She highlighted the persistent constraints, namely staff shortages, tax and traffic non-compliance, and administrative delays.
For 2026, the special municipal delegation plans to strengthen its administrative services, modernize the central market of Kaya, promote civic-mindedness, intensify citizen participation and improve the execution of investments. The president called for unity and collective commitment, believing that accountability and citizen participation remain key levers to transform challenges into opportunities and build a more resilient and inclusive community.
The day ended with the presentation of certificates of recognition from the local authority to the most deserving partners and stakeholders.
