Ouagadougou: Pan-Africanist and anti-colonialist activist, Kemi Séba called for peace between Niger and his country, Benin, Tuesday in Niamey during a meeting with Nigerien authorities, reports Nigerian Press Agency.
‘From afar, it was completely normal that as a Beninese and patriot, I call for peace between Benin and Niger, even though I am a visceral opponent of President Patrice,’ declared Kemi Séba in comments reported by the ANP.
‘The majority of Benin is against France-Africa but we are unfortunately taken hostage by a Government which supports France-Africa,’ he added.
‘And it is as a very proud patriot that I said that as long as the Nigerien Government and the CNSP resist France-Africa and are opposed to President Talon and his France-Africa policy, I will always be side of what resists neocolonialism,’ insisted the Beninese pan-Africanist.
Kemi Séba, along with Nathalie Yamb, another anti-colonialist activist, was received by the President of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani, Prime Minister L
amine Zeine and officials of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSD)
According to Kemi Seba, who says he is on the side of justice and the powers that resist the neocolonialist, the network and the nebulous connections of France-Africa have certainly ‘killed’ our parents, but will no longer ‘kill our children’.
Relations between Benin and Niger, already deteriorated following the declared desire of the Beninese president, Patrice Talon, to engage his army to dislodge General Tiani in power, worsened with Talon’s unilateral decision to prevent crude oil from Niger transits through the pipeline passing through Benin. However, the oil blockade was lifted a few days ago.
For its part, Niger has kept its Beninese borders closed despite the lifting of ECOWAS punitive measures against it, fearing being attacked by terrorist bases supposed to be hosted in Beninese army camps, which has had consequences. repercussions on the rise in prices of basic necessities in Benin.
