Kenedougou/Guiriko Governor’s Cup Final: Houet Triumphs Over Kenedougou

Ouagadougou: Houet clinched the Governor's Super Cup of the Guiriko region on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Orodara. The event, centered on the theme of living together in harmony, saw sponsorship from Mahamoudou Barry, CEO of Presta-Sud Babali, and Djakalia Barro, Director General of State Real Estate and Equipment.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final brought together Houet, representing the Gendarmerie of Bobo-Dioulasso, and Kenedougou, a team from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). The match was intense and committed, with strong support from the crowd.

The awards ceremony followed the competition, conducted in an atmosphere filled with pride and enthusiasm from the supporters. Houet, the winners, were awarded an envelope containing 500,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, two balls, and 16 gold medals.

Kenedougou, despite being the runners-up, were acknowledged for their journey and the quality of their performance with a prize of 300,000 CFA francs, two balls, and 16 silver medals. Tuy, securing third place, received 200,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, two balls, and 16 bronze medals.

Sponsors Mahamoudou Barry and Djakalia Barro commended the initiative for its significance to the region. They expressed satisfaction at being part of an event that highlights brotherhood, solidarity, and unity, which are crucial for the stability of Guiriko.

Mariama Gnanou/Konate, governor of the Guiriko region and promoter of the event, noted the strong community engagement as evidence of the population's alignment with the regional vision. She emphasized that sport serves as a powerful unifying and developmental force, strengthening social cohesion and promoting peaceful coexistence.
