Gogo: The mining company KIAKA SA handed over biofertilizer and biopesticide production kits to Project Affected Persons (PAPs) on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Guilaw©ogo, following training in agroecological techniques. The handover ceremony was presided over by the president of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Gogo, Issa Tiendreb©ogo, in the presence of the head of the agriculture department, Michel Nabi©, the village chief, and the beneficiaries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Serge Kayemb©, Deputy Director of Community Relations at KIAKA SA, stated that the installation of the factory has had repercussions on some populations, thus prompting the implementation of the Livelihood Restoration Program (PRMS), planned over five years. He emphasized that this training combined with the distribution of materials marked the second edition of the program.
On this occasion, KIAKA SA enhanced the capabilities of 350 people affected by the project in several areas, including the manufacture and use of biofertilizers and biopesticides, composting, soilless gardening, and raising local chickens. The training, provided by the company ECHO, involved an investment of 5,930,000 FCFA, while the acquisition of the equipment cost 27,275,000 FCFA, totaling an investment of 33,205,000 FCFA.
Mr. Kayemb© expressed that this initiative aims to promote resilient agricultural practices and enable beneficiaries to transform their acquired knowledge into economic opportunities. He urged the recipients to make effective use of the equipment they received.
The PDS of Gogo, Issa Tiendreb©ogo, praised KIAKA SA for fulfilling its commitments to the local population. He noted that this training and the distribution of agroecological kits align with the government's efforts to promote organic and sustainable agriculture. He encouraged the beneficiaries to apply their acquired knowledge practically and maintain the equipment properly.
The head of the agriculture department, Michel Nabi©, indicated that this innovative training would enable those affected by the project to improve their production while reducing the use of chemicals. He advised them to quickly apply their knowledge to consolidate what they have learned.
Daw¨ga Philippe, the representative of those affected by the project, expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to KIAKA SA. He believed that this training would be very useful at the start of the winter season and that the equipment received would facilitate the implementation of the techniques learned.
As a reminder, the training and distribution of kits concerned people affected by the project in the localities of Guilaw©ogo, B©gu©do, Niaogho, Ouaregou, Dierma, and Boussouma. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic handover of the equipment to the beneficiaries.
