Kiyin Gbo Project Launched to Foster Patriotism in Kenedougou Schools

Kenedougou: The Diongolo Traore Provincial High School in Orodara served as the setting for the official launch ceremony of the "Kiyin Gbo" (Faso Ko) project, an awareness campaign on patriotism and citizenship in schools. The launch took place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the presence of the representative to the President of Faso for the Guiriko region, Omar Traore.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative is led by the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC) and aims to sustainably promote patriotism and responsible citizenship in schools. The 'Kiyin Gbo' project is designed as a structured awareness campaign, focusing on the appropriation of civic, patriotic, and endogenous values by students.

The launch ceremony was marked by the raising of the national colors. The Secretary General of the CNAVC, Kenedougou section, Nazaire Konate, indicated that the implementation of the project in the province will include a series of activities such as flag-raising ceremonies in schools and educational communications on civic and patriotic values.

Nazaire Konate invited students to fully embrace the initiative to make it a real lever for changing behaviors. Omar Traore, the representative to the President of Burkina Faso for Guiriko, acknowledged the dedication of teachers in ensuring quality education despite security and social challenges. He emphasized that the 'Kiyin Gbo' project aligns with the national vision of promoting civic-mindedness and patriotism as central to rebuilding Burkinabe society.

Omar Traore also highlighted the strategic role of schools in shaping citizens who are aware of their rights and duties and committed to defending national values.
