Kossin/Rising of the Colors: The Driving Forces of Sikoro Galvanize Education Stakeholders

Kossin: The chairman of the Sikoro school board, Louis Traore, presided over the raising of the national flag on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The ceremony was attended by the local population, students, teachers, members of the school board's executive committee, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), leaders of various religious communities, and members of the community watch group.

According to Burkina Information Agency, it was in an atmosphere of joy and pride that the students of the Sikoro school sang the national anthem for the raising of the national flag. The president of the Sikoro school council, Louis Traore, expressed his satisfaction with the work the teachers are currently doing to instill love of the nation and patriotism in the village children. He also congratulated the teachers for their sacrifice and resilience despite the difficult working conditions.

For the village chief, Damou Coulibaly, this was an opportunity and the first time their village had witnessed the flag-raising ceremony. She emphasized the importance of the teachers' work, stating, "You are the best servants of the people because you serve where some state agents refuse to go and do what others refuse to do," and called for the reopening of the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) to alleviate the suffering of the population.

The VDP delegate, Blaise Traore, highlighted the significance of the flag's presence at the school, noting that it symbolizes not only the presence of the State and the administration but also security and peace in the country.
