Kombissiri Urban Medical Center Extends Support to Internally Displaced Persons

Kombissiri: The Kombissiri Urban Medical Center undertook life-saving actions for internally displaced persons in the commune on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Kombissiri. Activities organized included raising awareness about sexual and reproductive health, STI testing, and sharing community meals.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Kombissiri Urban Medical Center (CMU) organized a health promotion day and community meal for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the commune. The CMU's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Harouna Sana, stated that this initiative is part of the CMU's health promotion activities entitled: "Promotion of sexual and reproductive health and hygiene and disease prevention for the benefit of internally displaced persons in Kombissiri."

Dr. Sana emphasized that the situation of the IDPs his center supports is concerning. He believes that every individual deserves access to dignified healthcare tailored to their needs. Therefore, the center organized awareness sessions on essential topics such as sexual and reproductive health and hygiene.

In addition to raising awareness, free screening for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and syphilis, was offered to internally displaced persons. Dr. Sana highlighted that early detection can save lives. During this day of solidarity, the CMU also organized a community meal for IDPs, CMU staff, and local administrative and traditional authorities, while hygiene kits were distributed to households.

The High Commissioner of Baz¨ga, Tene Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, commended the CMU's initiative, stating that it symbolizes a commitment to building a better future together, where everyone feels safe and heard, in line with the current vision of Burkina Faso's highest authorities.

The event dedicated to IDPs in Kombissiri was attended by the President of the Special Delegation of the Kombissiri commune, Boukary Porgo, the provincial director of family and solidarity of Baz¨ga, Clotilde Korbeogo, and several development actors from the city.
