Bassitenga: The Konkuy-Boho public primary school is taking a practical approach to education by implementing new curriculum innovations, as students engage in traditional mat-making activities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Konkuy-Boho Public Primary School, situated in the Basic Education District of Doumbala, introduced these educational innovations on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The activity involved students creating traditional mats, marking a shift from theoretical learning to practical application.

The workshops were led by Jules Traore and Jean-Marie Traore, president and treasurer of the student council respectively, along with a student named Bruno Traore. Under the guidance of staff and peers, each student participated in making two mats, fostering a collaborative and friendly learning environment.

Lassina Dama, the headmaster of the Konkuy-Boho Public Primary School, emphasized that this hands-on approach is part of a broader initiative to integrate vocational skills into the curriculum. He announced future mat-making sessions, aiming for each student to eventually craft their own mat. Additionally, he mentioned plans to introduce other vocational training programs.

Mr. Dama expressed satisfaction with the initiative, highlighting its significance in transforming a historically theoretical educational system into one that is more interactive and skill-based.
