Special Delegation of Tougan Provides VDP with Combat Equipment Worth Over 5 Million FCFA

Sourou: The special delegation of the commune of Tougan offered, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, combat equipment worth a total of 5,877,500 FCFA to the communal Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). The donated equipment consists of 18 TYT brand communication devices, 30 pairs of tactical boots, and 100 magazine pouches. This donation aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of the VDP involved in securing the municipality.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Tougan, Ouigou Tiendrebego, stated that this initiative is part of the dynamic of supporting the fighting forces for the reconquest of the national territory. "We deemed it necessary to support the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as the VDP of the commune in the reconquest of the territory, in this period marked by insecurity," he said. The PDS specified that the acquisition of this equipment was made using its own funds, thanks to taxes and duties raised at the local level.

Firmin Koussoube, the general delegate of the Tougan municipal VDP, expressed his gratitude to the municipal authorities for their ongoing efforts in promoting security. He indicated that this equipment will help to redouble their efforts on the ground. He also called on all people of goodwill to follow the municipality's lead by providing support to the VDP.
