Koudougou: The Koudougou Regional Hospital Center (CHR) hosted the inaugural 'Night of the Patient' event on Friday evening, aiming to mobilize resources to enhance its infrastructure and technical capabilities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Kargougou, under the theme "Improving the healthcare provision at the Koudougou Regional Hospital: what strategy for mobilizing endogenous resources?" Distinguished figures attended the ceremony, including Grand Chancellor, Brigadier General Pingrenoma Zagre, alongside administrative and customary authorities, as well as key regional stakeholders.
Minister Kargougou praised the dedication of the Director General and staff of CHR, while announcing a forthcoming transfer of significant state resources. He urged the local community to contribute over 850 million CFA francs for upgrading the hospital's technical facilities. The Minister highlighted the commitment of President Ibrahim Traore to public health issues.
The patron of the event, Razangnaaba Poulma, stressed the collective responsibility of investing in the healthcare system. He called for involvement from all stakeholders, including businesses and local authorities, emphasizing that everyone, regardless of status, will eventually require hospital services.
Habibou Ouedraogo nee Kabore, the general manager of the hospital, noted that the event was dedicated to honoring patients and recognizing the staff.
Significant contributions and pledges were made, including 200 million FCFA for a surgical building, 500 million FCFA from the Ministry of Health, and a 600 KVA generator donated by the Nando region's employers' association. Other donations included an electrocardiograph valued at over 2 million FCFA from the Nando Regional Council, medical-technical equipment worth 2,600,000 FCFA, and the extension of the morgue promised by the sponsor. Additionally, cash contributions totaled 3 million FCFA, with contributions from CAMEG, participants, and a mobile phone collection.
This inaugural event marks a pivotal moment, rallying the community and authorities to set the Koudougou Regional Hospital on a path toward sustainable healthcare service transformation.
