Koulp©logo/Cinkans©: Authorities Begin Clearing Occupied Areas Along the RN16

Koulp©logo: The administrative and municipal authorities of Yargatenga launched an awareness and clearing operation of the rights of way of National Route No. 16 (RN16) in Cinkans©. The effort aims to strengthen the safety of users and improve traffic conditions on this busy road.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation is led by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Yargatenga commune. It follows a large-scale awareness campaign among the population, which included information sessions, educational talks, and radio announcements encouraging occupants to vacate the affected areas.

The mission has mobilized defense and security forces, including elements of the gendarmerie and the police. The brigade commanders of the Cinkans© and Yargatenga gendarmerie brigades, along with the police commissioner of Cinkans©, have been accompanying the municipal authorities throughout the operation.

Officials report that numerous shops, sheds, and other structures have been built on road rights-of-way, sometimes extending to power lines. This encroachment reduces the roadway's width, obstructs traffic, and poses risks such as traffic accidents and electrocution.

During the operation, the prefect urged occupants to support the authorities' approach, emphasizing that collective security is the primary motivation. Comrade Souleymane Ouattara, Chief of the gendarmerie brigade in Yargatenga, noted that these installations obstruct free movement and compromise road sign visibility, increasing accident risks.

Issa Ouattara, head of the Cinkans© gendarmerie brigade, highlighted the dangers of occupying spaces under power lines, emphasizing the threat to both occupants and the population.

Following discussions, several occupants began dismantling their structures under the supervision of security forces. As the AIB team departed, operations to clear the occupied areas continued along the RN16 highway, demonstrating cooperation between the authorities and the affected communities.
